What is polished concrete?
A: Polished concrete has erupted in the United States over the past decade as the low cost solution to a high class desire. Just about everyone has concrete around their home, the garage, the walkway, entryway, and porch, it’s just about everywhere. Existing slabs can be polished using unique machinery utilizing metal bond or diamond grits to hone the hardened concrete into a highly reflective and aesthetically pleasing surface.
What is the benefit to polishing concrete?
A: When done properly, polished concrete can last just as long as the other natural stones, with a lot less maintenance and cost. Cement is relatively inexpensive.
How is it done?
A: Diamond discs are mounted to an 1100 lb. floor grinder. These rough grits remove imperfections while flattening the floor. Then finer grits are used to create a marble like shine. The process is usually an 8-step process that ends with a highly polished concrete floor.
How long will it last?
A: Concrete polishing is permanent. There’s no wax, epoxy, acrylic, or any other shiny coverings applied that will eventually fail. When ConcreteCare of America is finished the result is a bare concrete floor that has been permanently polished to a desired shine.
What maintenance and cleaning is required?
A: Just routine mopping or a “walk behind” scrubber...nothing unusual.
Is it slippery?
A: No. Concrete polished floors have a “high traction” rating wet or dry.
What is the cost?
A: Price varies on size and condition of the concrete. Contact ConcreteCare of America for your no cost, no obligation review. We’ll come right out, scheduled at your convenience
Are there any harmful VOC's?
A: No. This process is completely eco-friendly and perfect for green construction projects.
Where are people using it?
A: Warehouses, Restaurants, Schools, Retail Stores, Manufacturing, Residential, Auto Showroom and Service Areas, anywhere you have concrete and want that gorgeous look.
Do Car, Truck or Forklift tires mess it up?
A: No. Marks wipe off easily.
What about 75-year-old concrete that is pitted, well worn, or has had coatings applied?
A: No problem. When we’re finished, you’ll swear it’s a different floor. Concretecare uses a unique mechanical process that makes your floor absolutely brilliant and shiny.
Can the shine be destroyed?
A: Yes, but it is not easy. If you pour muriatic acid on the floor, it will etch. Strong acids will destroy the shine. Etched areas are easily repaired.
Is it good in schools?
A: It’s the perfect solution. It’s beautiful yet it’s durable and easily maintained.
Is it dusty or messy?
A: Very minimal. Our state of the art equipment makes the process virtually dust free.
How far will ConcreteCare of America travel to polish concrete?
What's the #1 reason people polish concrete?
A: Residential...for its beauty and low cost. Commercial & Retail… for its trendy upscale look and low cost. Institutional… for its reduced maintenance and low cost. And for Green Construction...because it is eco friendly and low cost effective.
Will we work on a union job?
A: Yes, but the price may go up. All our pricing is based “Open Shop”, on non-union work.
Do you apply a sealer?
A: That depends, we don’t apply an encapsulating sealer but we do apply a densifying hardener that hardens the floor, stops concrete dusting and helps the floor shine last longer.
